If you find any kind of teleportation random or otherwise, keep them in your back pocket for emergencies. Want that item hidden behind some kind of hazard? Figure out a safe way past it or come back later, it's never worth the loss of HP (this is for people who aren't veterans and don't really know the game inside and out)

Your number 1 goal should ALWAYS be to avoid as MUCH damage as possible. This is extra easy when you have speed points to run away properly.Įven if you're playing a melee character, ALWAYS use ranged attacks to your advantage before things can hit you. Don't be afraid to go up a floor to heal etc. With my mage I actually killed everything, but I got lucky to also have summon skeleton as a skill which helped quite a bit I think. Pretty sure I would have died otherwise (not 100% sure though). I didn't know this but tried it on my ranger and it worked.

In the last level you don't need to beat anything, you only need to touch the cup. It seems to be mostly the case of stacking strength for warriors, int for mages and dex for ranged, but I also sometimes took strength or dex on my mage to either get more dodge and speed points, or extra encumbrance to equip that thing I needed. Learn the run command (shift-click if you have speed points), this saved my life or let me reposition a lot. If you're almost completely hungry, use it when you also need to heal, not just to fill your food bar. Try to make your food last as long as possible. I bought the game yesterday, and have 2 wins out of 8 runs (and 4 out of the six losses were on the first floor :P). This is certainly not exhaustive, but includes MY favorite strategies, and I hope it helps a little. I think, Cone of Cold is a good choice, since it also slows opponents and pushes them back, or Lightning Bolt, which does extra damage and AoE, if you can manage to lure opponents into water.Īnother good pick against reflective opponents, though, is the Bear Trap talent. Ideally, you should see to get some kind of AoE-ability (usually a spell, which will again profit from some investment into Int).

Still, there are some enemies which should not be fought with ranged attacks: Those with a deflect ability! They are rare, but deadly for a ranged character. You can float over pits and concentrate your fire on ranged enemies, while the melee enemies can't do sh!t, or hover above lava or toxic waste pools, which slowly dissolve approaching enemies in addition to your renged attacks. And for a range combatant the ability to fly is invaluable. It gives you reflection, hich isn't too bad already, but more importantly Levitation on second rank (if you find an item that gives you Levitation - well, lucky you). Perfect Aim and Tunnel Shot are among the most useful Talents in the game, since they allow you to get rid of nuisances behind the lines, like healers or summoners.īut you might also invest a little into Int, for the case that you find the Cloak of Wind Talent (hope I got the name right). You can basically invest only in Dex to amass Ranged Weapon damage bonus and - Sprint points! The ability to run away is something not to be underestimated in the game. Keep your distance and use ranged weapons. Easiest character for start should be the Ranger.
